Camp Pendola is committed to finding creative and safe solutions to allow the return of summer camp programming in 2021.
We have been watching the trends in the state of CA and working closely with the guidelines given by the CDC and ACA (American Camp Association) as well as guidelines from the State of California. The state has not yet released guidelines for the reopening of Summer Camps and with that we have made the following decisions about how we will proceed for this summer.
First, we will open a Family Camping programming at Camp Pendola in Camptonville. Family Camp will be open Tuesdays – Sundays from July 6th – August 1st for families to rent a cabin and will have access to the various activities at Camp Pendola including archery, the pond, the chapel, and the arts and crafts area. Equipment will be checked out by our staff and meals will be provided for families to enjoy in our outside dining areas. And families can receive guided hikes or trips to Bullards Bar Lake to enjoy a day trip out of camp. And on Friday nights through Sunday afternoons, we will offer socially distanced programming including Mass and a Movie night under the stars.
Second, we have worked for four parishes in the Diocese of Sacramento to host a Camp Pendola Day Camp. The day camp will run Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm open to youth entering 1st grade through exiting 6th grade starting the week of July 6th through the week of July 26th. Activities will include arts and crafts, games, nature activities, and daily prayer. Along with our Day Camp we will be offering a Virtual Camp for campers who are not able to attend our Day Camp. The Virtual Camp will include live activities on Zoom when the campers join in with the Day Campers.
Third, we will offer Teen Day Trips. Each week, starting the week of July 6th through the week of July 26th, there will be two Day Trips for Teens. These trips will be to places like the Quarry Park in Rocklin, CA and Folsom Lake. The trips will include hiking or another type of adventure for Middle and High School Teens. Parent will be asked to drop their teen off and pick them up at the activity location.
We will also bring back out Counselor in Training (CIT) program again this summer. The CITs will attend the Youth on a Mission program offered by a Collaboration between the Northern California Dioceses with additional Camp Pendola specific programming added during the week. CITs will be asked to volunteer at one or more of the weeks of Day Camp.
With all these programs we will be following social distancing, asking everyone to wear masks/face covering, and following all safety guidelines given by the state and counties we will be operating in.
Registration will open on Easter Monday, April 5th at noon.
Thank you,
Miss Jen
