Dear Camp Pendola...

"Camp Pendola is the greatest thing that ever happened to me. Each year I make new friends and new experiences. The time flies by so fast and everyday I wish I was back there. Thank you Mr. Steve for making it so much fun."

Greetings. I would like to thank you for my daughter's (Zoe) campership assistance this summer at Pendola. She had a wonderful time, and your staff are fantastic. This is the second year she has gone and for both this year and last, I have felt peace at mind, knowing she'd be encouraged to grow in a fun and safe environment. I am impressed with what you offer the children at Pendola. For that, you have my appreciation and gratitude.

"I had  an awesome time at camp. I went on the canoe trip. I couldn’t wait to get there. The  bus ride took FOREVER! But we finally got there. We unpacked our gear and went to  eat lunch. You know how most girls are, they gossip and separate themselves from  the others. Well picture that like times 5! We all pretty much came with friends  so we all were separated. Later that night it was like we were a whole new cabin! We had become great friends. Two days had passed and it was time to leave for our canoe trip. We finally got to the dock and set off. Boy did my arms hurt that first day. After that you pretty much got used to it. Then it was finally  time to head back to camp. We stopped to eat lunch while we were canoing. It was  soooooooo fun, we had a MUD fight. It was fun! At last, it was Friday night we could  not wait. We won Brown Cow! It was so fun. Later that night we decided to go and do pranks. Now the enchanted cookery has a whole new meaning, doesnt it  Mr. Phlipper. Hehehehe. Overall i had an awesome time at camp.

Hey Everyone,
I've had AWESOME 5 years at camp and every  year gets better. This year I chose to go on the co-ed backpacking trip for a  different experience and if i had to describe it in one word it would be -  phenomenal. Yeah I know it sounds cheesy but the trip was great. I met a new  group of friends that I still hang out with. During the trip I think we laughed more then we hiked (which was a lot!). But in the end it was rad. There is no way I would miss out on the experience next year. Miss Carrie, Mr Damian, Alex, Bridget, Chris, Will, Natilie, Juliet, Vicoria, Joe ,and Tony are 11 people that I will never forget! All I have to say to You guys is " Hey you guys I know a scary story......." and "D-I-S-H-E-S!!" haha love you guys!!

This letter is from Sierra Jett. It is to thank you for the scholarship so that I could go to camp. I love Camp Pendola and look forward to going the next year as soon as I am home from this year. I had a lot of fun this year. I went on the hardest hike that I have ever gone one. I went to Lower Kelly. It was a good experience.  I had a lot of fun at the lawn games and the campfire. I hope I can go again next year on the canoe trip like Brooks did. I wanted her to try it first and she had a great time. I loved my counselors. There were very nice and great. Thank you for making it so I could go to camp.

Hello from Brooks Jett. I wanted to let you know that I love Camp Pendola and wanted to thank you for making it so that I could go. I went on the canoe trip thsi year for the first time and I had a great time. It was so much fun. I had the best counsellors. They were totally cool! I also had a great cabin. I met a lot of nice people this year. Even thought I live in the mounatins, it is nice to go to another place once a year. So, I want to thank you again for making it possible for me to go. Please make sure Mr. Steve sees this and say hi to him from Sierra and me.
Brooks 2002

Thanks Brooks - Kathy passed the e-mail on to me. Thank you for joining us this summer. I am glad you had a great time. Look forward to seeing you next summer. Hi to Sierra, Forest, and your Mom. --- Mr. Steve

Thank you for letting my sister and I go to your camp. I had a great time. I really liked the game night. I had great counselors, Miss Laura & Miss Mary. I hope I can go again next year.
See you next year, Sierra, 2000

I had a wonderful time at camp. It was really fun and a good experience. I liked all the activities especially Camp Crafts. I learned a lot from all the camp staff. I liked the food a lot! I also enjoyed the campfire with all the camp staff. I am looking forward to coming next summer and having another great summer with Camp Pendola.

I am writing you this letter to tell you how much fun I had at camp. I am going to come next year. I will probably be in cabin two because I was in cabin one this year. Well I see you in a year..
Rayshawn, 1999

I went to Camp Pendola and that is where my adventure began. I got a little bus sick, but I’m glad it was at the end of the ride. When we were just entering camp it looked more like a town. My two counselors were Miss Aileen and Miss Vanessa. They were nice. We swam in a pond. There was everything there. Even a store, but you didn’t have to pay! We went on two hikes. I had a blast. At the end of camp I cried. When the bus started to leave the counselors ran into the pond. Camp Pendola is the best camp in the world. I’m going back next year no matter what.

I attended Camp from the second until seventh grades and always loved it. Now, I am going to be a Jr. at St. Francis High School. My favorite memory from Camp was when my cabin hiked to Bullard’s Bar Reservoir to go swimming. Well, it was during the drought years and the water level was way down. This was my second time at the reservoir and I was so excited I tripped and rolled the whole way down the bank to water line. That doesn’t sound like that great of memory, but it is one of the things I really remember. I did have a great time at the water that day! That year I was in Miss Kim’s cabin and if you will believe this I saw her last summer and she remembered me! That is the great thing about Camp - you make so many friendships! Thanks for listening!
Sincerely, Alanna 1999

Mr. Steve: Just a word of thanks. My sister, my niece and I had a wonderful time visiting this weekend! It was great to see the first night campfire. I’ve been hearing stories about the skits from Brittany and Vanessa each year but it all became real for me last night. I am even more impressed with the excellent job you do with the campers. You create such a warm, wholesome, and fun environment. Thank you- for this weekend and all the past summers Brittany has experienced there.
Sincerely, Meg 7/5/2000

My son enjoyed the camp very much! He didn't have time to get homesick. It was exciting. I met one counselor, Mr. Dan. Joe and I liked him very much. He  was a very nice and polite young man. Thank you.

Many thanks for a very successful summer for our girls at Camp Pendola. Our  oldest looks forward to another year at camp and our younger daughter has truly  discovered she isn't cut out to be a camper - she did have a great time though as long as long "home thoughts" didn't intrude. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

From Staff
Here's what staff has said about camp...

Mr. Steve- Hi! I hope you are having a wonderful beginning of Spring, and that you  are taking time to relax. I will never forget last summer working at Pendola. I  absolutly loved it! I learned so much about myself, living with others, limits you could push for yourself, and so much more. I think the adjustment of college  would have been so much more difficult for me if I hadn't worked at Pendola. I  now also found a love of camping that I never knew existed in me before, since I  had never really ever been camping. Thank you for giving me the oppritunity to learn, share my faith, form friendships, and discover new things about myself- through working at Pendola last summer. It will be a summer that I will never forget, and will always look at fondly! I hope I can sometime come and  visit, and who knows what God has planned for the future?! Thank you! - Ashley

Hi Mr Steve, all is well in N.Z.  We are having a fairly hot summer around  the 25-30 degrees celcius range.  I recieved the newsletter in the mail as well and had a read through, so thanks for that.  Camp Pendola, its staff and my trip to USA has been a wonderful experience for me and belive me when I say, the experience has been widely talked about.  I'm sure my family and friends feel  they know the camp well after listening to me talk.
Hopefully hear from you soon
Mr. Matt, 01

Dear Camp Pendola...
I was looking at the web page and I just wanted to add my own letter to the bunch. I’ve always had the best time at Camp Pendola. I went there for about ten years as a camper. The counselors were always supportive. I cannot imagine a year without me heading up to the mountains for just a little while. I can’t wait to go back an be a counselor again. Thank you for all of the memories.
Love, Rebecca ‘98

It seems like every other day I am thinking about Camp. From Sunday afternoons when I had 10 little girls crying for their mothers, to Friday nights when those same girls were crying because they had to go home on Saturday. I’ ll never forget my experiences. I want my little sister to go up and work one of these summer just so I can have an excuse to visit. I want you to know that Camp Pendola was an awsome experience for me. The time I spent there, played such a role in where I am today ( I wouldn’t change a thing).
