Summer Camp Facilities

Pendola Center is nestled in the Tahoe National Forest two hours northeast of Sacramento. The facility consists of 40 acres of pine, oak and Pacific Madrone trees with 24 buildings to serve the guests who visit. Our Lady of the Sierra Chapel sits prominently in the middle of Pendola Center. The Chapel serves campers and retreatants as a worship space and meeting room with wall to wall carpet, and a fireplace.

We offer twelve rustic cabins up on the hill for a place for campers to store their belongings and rest their heads. Cabins sleep eight to ten including one or two counselors.

Campers will come to see that Pendola is not a camp without its campfire. We gather twice a week to share laughs and stargaze. Our large fire ring is a prominent place in camp.

Unless on camp-outs, everyone in camp eats together in the our large dining hall, prepared in our commercial-style kitchen.

For leisure activities, Pendola accommodates an archery range, swimming pond, nature walk, crafts center, and plenty of room for every sport. We are also proud to announce the construction of two brand new buildings: the dining room and the St. Francis of Assisi Activity Center. The multipurpose center includes a game room and snall group rooms to gather for retreats and learning activities.

New construction was completed in May of 2009 and Pendola Center is once again fully operational and open for all programs and activities.

During the fall and winter months, we invite guests to stay in our two heated lodges. Chief Seattle and Tekawitha Lodge houses up to 50 guests at Pendola Center. Tekakwitha Lodge has 13 bunk beds and Seattle has 12. Guests must bring their own bedding or a sleeping bag. Tekawitha Lodge has an attached bathroom with private showers while Chief Seattle has a separate bathhouse about 100 feet from the lodge.

No retreat is a success unless there are good meals to energize the participants and staff. Pendola Center offers a spacious commercial kitchen with five ovens, a large grill, six burners, a walk-in fridge, large ice machine, commercial coffee machine, and plenty of pots & pans. Guests will find kitchen staples such as napkins, paper towels, and salt & pepper. The kitchen and dining room offer plates, cups, and silverware for over 70 people per meal.
